The Tej Kohli Foundation is led by the vision of brighter future for all. By providing resources to existing charitable frameworks, we seek to bolster education and innovation to improve the quality of life in underserved communities. We ultimately strive to help people become the best they can be, for themselves and for future generations to come.
The Tej Kohli Foundation was founded in 2005, by Wendy and Tej Kohli. Charity and philanthropy have always been principles that they strongly believe in, and they wished to share their own success with those less fortunate. The foundation is funded entirely by Tej and Wendy Kohli, and therefore does not accept external contributions.
Currently operating in Costa Rica and India, and with ambitious plans to expand to new areas, the Tej Kohli Foundation is focused on projects with a measurable and sustainable impact.
The foundation is supported through the success of Kohli Ventures, the Tej Kohli investments vehicle, and the skills and intellectual capital provided by its senior management team and assistance of volunteers.
The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute
Its goal is to create a global network of resource centres that will contribute to the prevention and control of worldwide corneal blindness. This is part of Wendy and Tej Kohli’s personal mission to end corneal blindness by the year 2030, improving the quality of life for countless people.
The aim of our foundation is to identify areas of need to which we can bring the benefit of our intellectual and financial resources. We are not interested in re-inventing the wheel, but in working within existing charitable frameworks to ensure maximum efficiency and exponential output. We have made clear from the outset that our foundation operates without boundaries. This gives us the flexibility to address new areas where we can bring value– whatever the continent.
Regardless of where we operate, our objective is to bring social improvement, hope and a sense of pride to people’s lives. We want to help people become the best they can be, for themselves and future generations to come.
‘Our job is to be the voice of those who desperately need help, where society has let them through the cracks and turned their back on them. We want everyone we come in to contact with to have a better chance of a brighter future for themselves, their families and generations to come.'
" The corneal transplant surgery has changed (everything). A new Vijaypal has been born, and it’s changed not only him but his family as well. We cannot thank the Tej Kohli Foundation enough. "
I was told my loss of vision couldn’t be treated, because of my haemophilia, but the team from the Tej Kohli Cornea Institute worked around it to restore my sight. Now my vision is improving and I can return to my studies, and I have the Tej Kohli Cornea Institute to thank.
The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute allowed me to live my own life again. When I lost my sight, I lost all my independence. For 15 years I had to rely on my family for everything. At the LVPEI, the doctors were finally able to restore sight in one of my eyes.
When my son was in a sporting accident, I thought he would lose his sight. The doctors form the Tej Kohli Cornea Institute performed emergency corneal surgery, and they were able to save his vision.
The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute was recommended to me after I was attacked with acid, destroying my vision. The doctors knew exactly what to do. They performed a cornea transplant on me, and it gave me back enough vision to live my own life.
The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute performed emergency cornea surgery on my son the same day they diagnosed his rare condition. We would never have been able to afford it elsewhere, but they saved his sight for free. Now he has a little pair of glasses, but otherwise you’d never know anything had happened.
